Seedream 5.0 Pro vs Nano Banana 2.1 — three creative briefs in 1K

Six new results from sourced prompts: a Hollywood diorama, a glass willow and a shared-source watercolor edit, with exact inputs and matched 1K prices.

阅读约 5 分钟6 个章节

We ran three varied community prompts on Seedream 5.0 Pro and Nano Banana 2.1: a miniature film set, a glass sculpture and a watercolor transformation of the same source. Both models were requested at 1K. This is a small visual experiment; one output per model and task does not establish a general quality or speed ranking.

Method and source prompts

The practical guide quotes the exact prompts and links their authors. The diorama uses the published prompt field; the glass sculpture fills the source template's four variables; the watercolor prompt is unchanged. We generated our own outputs through API Stock on 19 October 2026, without importing the source posts' images.

Each pair shares its exact text, aspect ratio and resolution: "1K". The diorama and watercolor use 16:9, the glass sculpture 3:4. Seedream additionally uses outputFormat: "png"; Nano Banana has no such public field. We do not send promptOptimizeMode, which belongs to Seedream 4.5.

Both edits use the same Seedream diorama original in urls: download the reference. This controls the editing input; it does not prove a model works better with every possible source.

The 1K tier is not a fixed pixel size. We kept the dimensions returned by each model:

TaskSeedream 5.0 ProNano Banana 2.1
Diorama1312 × 7361376 × 768
Glass864 × 1152896 × 1200
Watercolor1312 × 7361376 × 768

Some files differ slightly from the requested aspect ratio; check the original before placing it into a fixed layout.

Displayed files are WebP derivatives, without resizing, cropping or retouching. The generation record contains task IDs, exact inputs, original dimensions, hashes, prompt provenance, account quotes, recorded costs and a dated public price snapshot. All six first outputs are retained; there were no quality rerolls.

Miniature world: scene construction and scale

Exact diorama prompt and source. Check the tabletop scale, hillside sign, Art Deco facade, cameras, cars and golden-hour lighting.

Both outputs retain a miniature tabletop scene and a readable HOLLYWOOD hillside sign. Seedream gives the facade a closer, warmer treatment, with cameras and cars in front. Nano Banana shows a wider set with more cars and tiny figures, pencils and a brush around the model. Its facade also carries small invented lettering: the prompt does not specify those words. Seedream’s stronger foreground blur hides some prop detail; Nano Banana’s added detail creates a busier scene.

Glass sculpture: transparency and light

Exact resolved glass prompt and template source. Look for a willow silhouette, transparent branches, refraction and rainbow-colored patterns on the surface rather than a merely shiny object.

Both depict a drooping glass tree and colored light patterns below it. Seedream has a broad, sharply defined trunk and a mostly black backdrop; its amber lighting makes some branches appear gold. Nano Banana gives the tree finer hanging branches and cooler, bright highlights, with a visibly brighter room-like area at the top of the background. That extra background is less literal than the requested simple black velvet. Neither image proves physically correct refraction or caustics.

Watercolor: one shared source

Exact watercolor prompt and source. Compare each result with the original Seedream diorama above. The prompt requests a medium change but does not explicitly lock every object.

Both retain the recognisable facade, hill and sign, with paper texture. Seedream uses softer washes and edges; Nano Banana adds more visible contour lines and distinct patches of color. Both change props: Seedream adds cars on the road, while Nano Banana alters cars and camera details near the entrance. These are illustration directions rather than exact composition copies. Keeping every object fixed would require a separate, more constrained test.

Matched 1K cost

Public USD catalogue rates checked on 19 October 2026:

ModelTierPer requestThree tasksTen requests
Seedream 5.0 Pro1K$0.042$0.126$0.42
Nano Banana 2.11K$0.014$0.042$0.14

Our six-task set budgets $0.168 at these public rates. Seedream includes the first reference; its one-reference edit therefore remains $0.042. Each additional reference adds $0.004. Nano Banana 2.1's catalogue currently lists $0.014 for 1K, 2K and 4K, but all six tasks here request 1K. Seedream Pro offers 1K and 2K here, with the 2K base rate $0.084; it does not have a 4K option in this integration.

The editorial account received $0 quotes and recorded $0 costs for all six tasks. The prices above are public-rate budget calculations, separate from that account’s conditions. For your production budget, divide all paid requests and revisions by the number of accepted images. A lower request price alone does not measure cost per usable asset; these six results do not establish acceptance rates.

Choose by the visible requirement

For a populated, denser miniature set, inspect the Nano Banana result; for a closer, warmer facade, inspect Seedream. The Seedream glass willow has a darker backdrop and more prominent trunk; Nano Banana has a finer, brighter canopy with extra background context. The watercolor pair offers softer washes versus more graphic contours. Test those differences on your own subjects before standardising a model.

Check the live price and parameter comparison when budgeting. Each example link fills the corresponding model with its prompt, 1K tier and ratio; editing links also fill the shared source. Review the quote before starting: links never submit a generation for you.
